Portsmouth have signed free agent Danny Webber on a two-year contract, the Premier League club have confirmed. "When I found out Danny was available I asked him to come down and train with us and I was delighted with what I saw," the Pompey manager Paul Hart told the club's official website. The 27-year-old former Manchester United forward was a free agent after leaving Championship side Sheffield United at the end of last season. Webber is Hart's latest recruit following the completion of Sulaiman al Fahim's takeover last month. Jamie O'Hara, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Mike Williamson, Tal Ben-Haim, Aruna Dindane and Hassan Yebda all arrived at Fratton Park in the closing days of the transfer window. Webber has been training with Manchester United this summer, with whom he began his career, following his release by the Blades. He joined Watford in 2003 before moving to Sheffield two years later. He scored 23 goals in 114 league appearances for United but was not given a new contract by manager Kevin Blackwell.
