MLB: Bumper deal for Hamels as Philadelphia edge Brewers

Cole Hamels secures the second largest MLB contract for a pitcher with a six-year, Dh529m contract extension at the Phillies.

Cole Hamels agreed to a six-year $144 million contract extension with the Philadelphia Phillies, making him one of the highest-paid Major League players, the team said Wednesday.

The contract extension will run through the 2018 season and includes a no-trade clause.

It is the second-largest contract for a pitcher, behind only the $161 million deal Yankees ace CC Sabathia signed four years ago.
