Cole Hamels agreed to a six-year $144 million contract extension with the Philadelphia Phillies, making him one of the highest-paid Major League players, the team said Wednesday.
The contract extension will run through the 2018 season and includes a no-trade clause.
It is the second-largest contract for a pitcher, behind only the $161 million deal Yankees ace CC Sabathia signed four years ago.
The 28-year-old Hamels has played his entire seven-year Major League Baseball career with Philadelphia.
In 19 starts this season, he has 11 wins, four losses and a 3.23 earned run average.
