India will not attack from the get-go if they bat first in the second one-day international against Zimbabwe at Harare on Sunday, Stuart Binny said on Saturday.
The conditions at the Harare Sports Club in the Zimbabwean capital are known to help seam bowlers, especially in the morning, and all-rounder Binny said it would be prudent for the top order to be cautious in the first half of their innings.
“If we get a chance to bat up front again early in the morning, it’s crucial that we’ve got to give the bowlers a lot more respect, with the Dukes ball that does swing and seam a bit,” said Binny who scored 77 and took two for 54 during India’s four-run win over the hosts in the first ODI on Friday.
Bangladesh face South Africa in the second of three ODIs at Mirpur today needing to win to keep the series alive.
Bangladesh were beaten in the first ODI by eight wickets and captain Mashrafe Mortaza said: “Against India and Pakistan we played unbelievably well. If we can play like that we can win against South Africa as well. But we haven’t even been within touching distance of those performances or of South Africa. We hope to do much better in the second game.”
