Tiger Woods captured his 75th PGA Tour title after a four-shot victory in the Farmers Insurance Open - despite a few nervy moments towards the end of his round at Torrey Pines.
The world number two entered the fifth day of play in the weather-affected competition with a six-shot lead over nearest challengers Brandt Snedeker and Nick Watney with just 11 holes to play.
But struggling in windy conditions, he was far from his fluent best and dropped four stokes in three holes from the 15th, eventually finishing on 14 under par overall - four strokes clear of last year's winner Snedeker.
"It got a little ugly toward the end," Woods said afterwards.
"I started losing my patience with slow play and lost my concentration there a little bit. But I was able to get my par there at 18 and got the win."
After missing the cut in his season opener at Abu Dhabi, Woods collected his first victory since last July at the US PGA National at Congressional.
Snedeker had just five holes to try to put some sort of pressure on Woods, but could produce no late heroics and had to settle for a final-round 69 and a tie for second place alongside Josh Teater.
Watney never got closer than five strokes off the lead, piling up four bogeys in strengthening winds over the last nine holes to close with a one-under-par 71.
"As a competitor, I wanted to give it to him," Watney said after tying for fourth.
"It was definitely a long shot, but I would have liked to get a little closer. But it was a tough day. I'm glad to be done, for sure."
Taking the top prize at Torrey Pines could prove a good omen for Woods - in all six previous years where the 37-year-old won there, he has gone on to win at least four tournaments, and in all but one year won a major.
