The National’s Sport cover for the Friday, July 17 issue, featuring Jordan Spieth as he continued his fine major form in the start of the 2015 Open Championship.
American 21-year-old Spieth, already victorious this year at the Masters and US Open, began his assault on The Open with a 5-under 67, good to keep him in the mix tied for eighth.
Spieth is two shots behind his leading playing partner, Dustin Johnson, who shot a Thursday-best 65 to go 7-under.
"I've played enough golf with him to believe in my skill set that I can still trump that crazy ability that he has," Spieth said of Johnson's spectacular round.
“I expect when he stands on the tee it’s going to be up there miles and down the fairway. I also expect that I can birdie each hole. It’s just a little different route.”
