Mohamed Salah became Liverpool's all-time record scorer in the Champions League when he struck after just 55 seconds against Midtjylland.

The Egyptian's goal in the 1-1 draw was his 22nd goal for the Reds in the Champions League, overtaking Steven Gerrard's mark of 21.

He first struck against Sevilla in September 2017, and has never looked back – including a penalty in the final against Tottenham when Liverpool lifted the trophy in 2019.

Salah is determined to continue adding to that impressive tally as Liverpool bid to claim another European crown.

"It's a great feeling, of course, to be the top scorer for the club [in the Champions League], something I'm proud of," he said after the game.

"I need to keep going like that and scoring more goals and make the gap maybe bigger between me and the others.

"But I'm trying all the time to score goals just to help the team to win games – that's the most important thing."

Salah's early goal in Denmark was also Liverpool's fastest ever in the Champions League.
