  CHELSEA RATINGS: Kepa Arrizabalaga 5 – Should have done better with Remy Cabella’s first half goal. Made a handful of routine stops in the second period. Reuters

  Cesar Azpilicueta 6 – Had a slight lapse of concentration for Krasnodar’s opening goal. Improved as the game wore on – especially in an attacking capacity. Reuters

  Tammy Abraham 6 – Needed to impress his manager after Olivier Giroud’s recent heroics. Unfortunately for the England striker, he did the very opposite. His good overall play was undone by a series of bad misses in front of goal. AFP

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was impressed by Billy Gilmour's "outstanding" return to action after an assured midfield performance in the 1-1 Champions League draw with Krasnodar.

The 19-year-old was handed his full European debut after spending four months on the sidelines following knee surgery.

Gilmour, who arrived from Scottish side Rangers in 2017, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Stamford Bridge last season but with Lampard spending around £220 million ($294.3m) on new players in the last transfer window there is now even more competition for places.

"I thought Billy was outstanding on his return, I felt very comfortable with him coming back in, he's trained so well, done his rehab and he deserved his chance tonight," said Lampard.

Midfielder Jorginho scored from the spot as Chelsea finished their successful campaign with a point.

Lampard made 10 changes to the side that defeated Leeds at the weekend, giving a first senior start to Tino Anjorin.

The second string Blues dominated the early possession, but the Russian side looked dangerous on the break and took the lead in the 24th minute through Remy Cabella.

However, four minutes later Chelsea were level when Jorginho converted a penalty after Tammy Abraham had been fouled in the area by Brazilian midfielder Kaio.
