Ahead of the June 12 kickoff to Brazil 2014, here is The National sports desk’s guide to how you can watch the tournament on television.
BeIn Sports owns the broadcasting rights of the Fifa World Cup 2014 in Brazil for the Middle East and Africa region. Viewers in the UAE have three options:
Etisalat customers
Dh450 for the World Cup package, shown on BeIn Sports. The subscription starts from June 1. Call 800 101 to upgrade or subscribe.
Du customers
Dh440 for the World Cup package, shown across five channels on BeIn Sports. Existing customers call 04 390 5555 to upgrade, new customers need to visit a Du shop.
Set-top box customers
You can buy a set-top box and BeIn Sports TV card from one of the UAE’s many television shops. The BeIn Sports card is Dh569 for three months, or Dh1,017 for 12 months.
An official encrypted BeIn Sports set-top box must be used. They start from Dh150.
Packages include free online access.
Existing customers should contact their television shop to upgrade to the World Cup package. The price you pay will depend on when your subcription is due to expire.
