WATCH: 'Ambitious' Haseeb Hameed would like to play for England in all three formats

Haseeb Hameed's international career may not have taken off like he wanted it to. But 17 months after he made his bittersweet Test debut against India, the English cricketer seems clear about what he needs to do to get back in the national team.

At just 19 years old, Hameed impressed cricket fans around the world with a maturity that belied his age, as he compiled scores of 31 and 82 in his first Test match at Rajkot in November 2016. The opening batsman followed it up with solid performances in Visakhapatnam and Mohali, where he scored his second half-century.

Unfortunately, his tour ended prematurely when he broke his little finger on the left hand during the third Test. His comeback bid was then foiled by another finger injury - this time on the right hand - ending whatever hopes he had to make the England squad for their 2017/18 tour of Australia.

The right-hander, in Dubai as part of the Lancashire county team's pre-season training, spoke to The National's Chris Whiteoak about his game and how it has evolved during the past few months, and what his ambitions are.
