Manish Pandey hit a majestic fifty as Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in Dubai on Thursday.

Rajasthan struggled to 154-6, with seamer Jason Holder dismissing key batsmen Sanju Samson and Steve Smith. Holder, a late entrant in the tournament, finished with 3-33, while fellow all-rounder Vijay Shankar took 1-15 from three frugal overs.

Hyderabad's chase began poorly as Rajasthan pacer Jofra Archer reduced them to 16-2. But from there on, it was all Hyderabad.

Pandey (83 from 47 balls) and Shankar (52 from 51) added 140 runs for the unbroken third wicket as Sunrisers chased down the target with 11 balls to spare.

Rajasthan captain Smith said his bowlers tried their best to put pressure on the opposition but the evening dew made their task difficult.

"I thought we started really well, Jofra taking two big wickets early. But we couldn't keep the foot on the pedal," Smith said.

"The wicket got better. There was a fair bit of dew on for some reason. The third over for Jofra was on my mind. I discussed it with a couple of guys. In hindsight, should have bowled a third straight over."

Rajasthan are in second last position on the points table with four wins and seven defeats. Hyderabad are fifth.
