Al Nasr fail in bid to have Jazira result wiped out

The UAE Pro League has rejected Al Nasr's demand for a rematch against Al Jazira following a controversial penalty in their 3-1 loss.

The Competitions Committee of the UAE Pro League has rejected Al Nasr's demand for a rematch against Al Jazira following a controversial penalty in their 3-1 loss at the weekend. The Dubai club lodged a protest following the referee's decision to first give a free-kick, then change his mind and award a penalty after Rafael Sobis was fouled. Nasr coach Luka Bonacic was given a Dh3,000 fine for his refusal to attend the post-match press conference. Al Wasl's Srecko Juricic received an identical fine for the same offence after the 6-2 loss at Al Dhafra. Al Wahda (Dh10,000) and Al Ain (Dh20,000) were both fined for the bad behaviour of their fans. The league, meanwhile, has sent the business licence of all 12 UFL clubs to the Asian Football Confederation to aid eligibility criteria for participation in the AFC Champions League. *National staff
