Donald Trump was unharmed after an apparent assassination attempt in Florida on Sunday. A Secret Service agent fired shots at a man with an AK-47-type rifle fitted with a scope before he could shoot at the presidential candidate.

The suspect had hidden in bushes at the edge of Mr Trump’s golf club in West Palm Beach.

He fled but was arrested soon afterwards. He was widely named as Ryan Routh, who has campaigned to send foreign fighters to Ukraine to fight Russia.

Dave Aronberg, state attorney for Palm Beach County, Florida, gave an update at a press conference.

The incident comes two months after a gunman shot and injured Mr Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania. Kamala Harris and Joe Biden have condemned Sunday's incident.

Israeli planes dropped leaflets on southern Lebanon telling the remaining civilians to evacuate. The messages said Hezbollah's use of the area to launch cross-border attacks put them in peril.

The Israeli military claimed the mission was unauthorised and that it is investigating. Tens of thousands have fled the south since last year.

And the 76th Emmy awards took place a few hours ago. Shogun dominated the event with 18 wins, with comedy series The Bear also taking several awards.
