Having a LinkedIn account is like having a digital business card that also includes your curriculum vitae. People use it to explore job opportunities or, for managers and recruiters, to find suitable employees. But how many people have actually benefited from the service compared to those who have wasted their time being spammed with random requests to connect?
Last week, Russian authorities required Apple and Google to remove the app from the local version of their app stores. The order came a few months after a Russian court ruled that the service violated its data protection rules, which require the storage of personal data relating to citizens on servers physically located within the country.
Now that their access has been removed, how many Russians will actually miss the service? What are the chances that a person will discover a good job opportunity through LinkedIn? What’s your experience with the service?
