Fog of confusion

With the onset of winter, everybody is talking about the fog that is disrupting their lives. Many road accidents have been reported across the country, while hundreds of travellers were stranded in Dubai on New Year’s Eve as dozens of flights were cancelled and others diverted.

These incidents are frustrating but, as we all know, the fog will eventually lift in a few days and all will be normal once again. While everyone would rather complete their journeys in time and either begin their holidays, return to their loved ones or do business, the main concern has to be safety. So what can be done?

It’s true that the weather cannot be controlled, but many feel that measures to mitigate travel disruptions could easily be undertaken by using some sort of technology. The fact is that fog happens only for a few days in a year – just like rain and sand storms – and the resources required to address the issue are enormous. The best solution is to accept it and slow down.
