Keeping score

I write in reference to Sultan Al Qassemi’s article How Abdulrahman Bukhatir gave the UAE its cricketing soul (March 30): It was both engaging and thought-provoking. It beautifully highlights the remarkable journey of Abdulrahman Bukhatir, a true legend who played a pivotal role in giving the UAE its cricketing soul. Bukhatir sparked a revolution in the desert by building cricket stadiums and nurturing a deep passion for the sport across the UAE. His life and achievements are vividly and respectfully narrated by the author, making the article both inspiring and informative. Beyond cricket, Bukhatir has earned many laurels through his leadership of various reputed companies, which is equally admirable. I am personally proud to share that from 1994 to 1997, I had the privilege of serving in his insurance division at the Sharjah office. Overall, this is a well-written and inspiring tribute to a visionary who transformed the cricketing landscape of the UAE. – K Ragavan, Bengaluru, India

War in the Middle East

It is heartening that there are efforts to initiate a dialogue between the various parties in the Middle East war. US President Donald Trump’s advisors should have sent a shortlist of about five conditions to end the war. A 15-point list is just too long. Finalising a 15-point list can take months. The parties need an agreement on a maximum of three key points to ensure a ceasefire. Then when the guns fall silent, the finer points can be ironed out over time. – Rajendra Aneja, Mumbai, India

I write in reference to your article US military objectives are ‘nearing completion’, Trump says (April 1): I assume he is not dependent on income from Trump Golf Club or other assets either. Allies certainly did not ask for this situation, so it would be reassuring to see meaningful support for the families of those who have lost their lives, as well as for those whose livelihoods have been affected. First of all, stop war – Stephan Bedo, location withheld

Palm Sunday

With reference to your story US 'raised concerns' after Israel blocked Palm Sunday Mass in Jerusalem (March 31): It’s a pity. No one should interfere in other’s religion. We should live in peace, not eliminate others’ religion and existence. - Cynthia Daoud, location withheld

Wedding bells

With reference to your story Love is in the air: Weddings on the rise in Abu Dhabi despite Iran's aerial attacks (April 1): I love this idea of simple wedding a sign of true love. During these times it’s better to give money to charity than lavish celebrations. – Liza De Luna, location withheld
