Regarding your Review of Guns N' Roses (Guns N' Roses put on euphoric, knockout juggernaut of a show in Dubai, March 5), I reached the venue at 5pm in order to not miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and made the most of it.
There were many who left home late and faced problems. Getting to a Guns N’ Roses concert late is a mistake.
There were already thousands of people present at the venue, since the gates opened at 4pm.

The concert was indeed great. However, people had to abandon their cars and play chicken along the Al Ain Road with crazy people driving along the hard shoulder to avoid the queues.

The tickets mentioned that the venue would open at 4pm and that guests should get there early. We arrived at 5.30pm and parked at the arena car park without any hassle.
We cruised through with our tickets to enjoy the atmosphere that was building. Once the concert finished we were in our car at midnight and arrived home at 1.50am – in Abu Dhabi.
These massive events are always going to have traffic around. The organisers did a great job. Having been to so many big rock concerts and festivals in the UK and Europe, this was one of the easiest to get in and out of.
The chaos on the roads is caused by inconsiderate drivers. A great and memorable night.
Fayaz Malik, Dubai
We left the Dubai airport area about an hour before the show for a 20-minute drive. We gave up about two hours into the Uber ride. The total cost for a round trip was Dh368 to go nowhere.
We would have arrived at the venue maybe at 11.30pm. This isn’t normal. The promoter emailed me back and said they opened at 4pm.
Dan Gericke, Abu Dhabi
The concert was great, but I will never go to that venue again. Travelling to that venue was terrible.
The queue at the event was just as bad. Such a mess doesn’t happen at the du Forum, because there are multiple points of access to the venue.
Rick Hood, Dubai
We reached the venue at 4.45pm. There was hardly any traffic and we found a parking spot close to the entrance of the venue.
We left after the end of the show. It took us about 45 minutes to get to the Al Ain freeway.

Guns N’ Roses and the opening band, Point of View, were awesome. It’s a shame that the main things people will remember about this concert are the chaos and lack of safety for people leaving the venue. They also ran out of water across all levels.
Then there was the knock-on effect of some taxis charging as much as Dh800 to people desperate to get home. I saw many families standing on the side of the Al Ain road.

Excited over new Dubai park
I am excited about the new public park in Dubai (New Dubai park gets green light, March 5). It would be really amazing if they connect it to local communities through cycling and jogging tracks.

Diet is key to losing weight
Hanadi Ali, who is morbidly obese, needs to say goodbye to carbohydrates – it's that simple (UAE Helping Hands: Mother needs surgery to lose weight that poses threat to life, March 5).
Her doctors will tell her whatever she “needs to know” in order for them to get richer, yet the key to longevity is the simplest thing imaginable and is in her own hands.
Stop eating sugar, eat real food instead of junk that’s made in factories – and maybe move more. That’s it.

Bariatric surgery doesn’t have a great success rate and frequently leads to complications. It’s too bad she didn’t get better care while she was gaining the weight. That would have been a much better time to correct it.
