The UAE intercepted 18 ballistic missiles, four cruise missiles and 47 drones launched from Iran on Friday, the Defence Ministry said.

Since the start of the Iranian attacks, UAE air defences have engaged 475 ballistic missiles, 23 cruise missiles and 2,085 drones.

Twelve people were reportedly injured on Friday, with 203 people injured since the outbreak of war on February 28.

The figures come after a fire broke out at the Habshan gas plant in Abu Dhabi, following successful interceptions by UAE air defences from Iranian attacks.

Authorities said operations were suspended as they responded to fallen debris. No injuries were reported.

In a separate incident, authorities responded to falling debris in the Ajban area after successful interceptions. This injured 12 people, seven of whom are from Nepal and five from India. One Nepalese national was severely injured, while the other 11 suffered minor to moderate injuries.

A flurry of alerts were issued across the UAE, including four in Abu Dhabi and one in Dubai.

Safety measures

In Dubai, it was announced that the emirate’s churches would be closed to the public until further notice, including over the Easter weekend.

The measures are in place from Friday, April 3, with parishioners advised not to visit the churches in the interest of safety and community wellbeing.

The Hindu temple and the Sikh Guru Nanak Darbar in Jebel Ali were also closed on Friday.

The Baps Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi has been shut since March 2.

Since the war began, attacks in the UAE have resulted in the martyrdom of two military personnel and a Moroccan civilian contracted by the Armed Forces, as well as eight fatalities of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian and Indian nationalities.

A total of 203 people have been injured. They included citizens of the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Turkey, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden and Tunisia.

The UAE has faced daily missile and drone attacks from Iran since the war broke out. Iran has attacked the Emirates and other Gulf states in response to strikes launched by the US and Israel.

The UAE has consistently called for a halt to military escalation and has stressed the need for diplomacy to secure a solution to the hostilities.
