A Tunisian woman wears a traditional veil called 'Sefseri' on National Women's Day in Tunis. The Sefsari is a traditional feminine veil in silk, cotton or satin worn in the Maghreb.
In Tunisia, there are different types of Sefsari which can be very colourful depending on the region, but the most used is the creamy white one.
Tunisia celebrates National Women's Day on August 13, which coincides with the anniversary of the Promulgation of the Personal Status Code, which marks the break with archaic practices devaluing Tunisian women.

The Tunisian Code of Personal Status outlawed polygamy, and gave women equal rights around decisions of marriage, divorce and child custody.
For many, National Women's Day is a day to acknowledge what they have achieved for women’s rights, while recognising and continuing to fight the many challenges that still exist against gender equality.
