Google is somewhat synonymous with internet searching so tracking how many times a tourist attraction appears in a Google search is a good way to discover which places around the globe people are most interested in.

And that's exactly what travel agency Globehunters did. The UK company analysed average monthly search data on the search engine to compile a list of the world's most researched tourist attractions.

Disney theme parks took the three top spots in the list which analysed more than 80 tourist attractions. Disneyland Anaheim in California was the most Googled place in the world, searched an average of 1,702,000 times per month. Dubai’s Burj Khalifa was also a favourite with Google users, coming in at number seven with 859,000 searches.

Nearby, India’s famed Taj Mahal was the fourth most-Googled tourist attraction in the world, closely followed by Arizona’s Grand Canyon.

Regionally, the ancient Nabatean city of Petra ranked at 16 with 491,000 searches per month for the Jordanian landmark.

Canada’s roaring Niagara Falls, Yellowstone National Park in the United States, the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Pantheon in Rome rounded out the top 10 most-Googled tourist attractions.
