Catching the Redeye: Dodge unleashes its most powerful Challenger in the Middle East

Dealers in the UAE are now selling the SRT Hellcat Redeye, and it's going to be a jumpy ride

A new Dodge has just hit the grit in the Middle East and it’s a bit of a beast. It goes by the not-unassuming name of the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye and, if you read the specs, it’s likely to be a threat to both eardrums and tarmac in equal measure.

The manufacturers have billed this vehicle as the fastest, most powerful muscle car on the road. When you see its monster 6.2-litre V8 engine can generate just under 800 horsepower, enabling the car to hit 100 kilometres per hour from scratch in 3.4 seconds, they may have a point.

This latest model is an even beefier version of Dodge’s limited-edition SRT Demon, which itself claimed the muscle-car-speed-and-power crown up until the new pretender rolled up to the castle gates like Jon Snow in a shiny metal overcoat.

From the outside, the Redeye still has all those traditional Dodge stylings, as well as some that pay homage to muscle cars of the 1960s and '70s, but a sinister scarlet eye design has been added to the metallic bumper badge.

If you get a Redeye and you want to drive it to its full potential, though, you may want to take a couple of jerry cans of fuel with you – at top whack it will drain its tank in just under 11 minutes.

The Redeye was introduced in other areas last year, but its appearance here is a first for the region. If you want to have a look yourself, models are lurking menacingly in Dodge showrooms across the UAE now.
