Zuma in Dubai has been ranked 77th in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards, sponsored by S. Pellegrino. Don’t be confused by the event name, there were in fact 100 global restaurants listed and Zuma managed to jump up ten places this year, making it the highest placed MENA restaurant. Third time proved lucky for DIFC and Abu Dhabi-based Japanese eatery, which is no stranger to the industry accolade:

“To be listed just once was an incredible achievement,” said Ajaz Sheikh, Managing Director for ZUMA Middle East and Turkey. “To be recognised for the second year was a surprise and perhaps luck! But the third year in a row, and to move up so significantly in a global list is just enormous and means we have gained new votes from international judges as well as regional ones. The news will take some sinking in.”

Overall first place was scooped by Noma restaurant in Denmark while the only other UAE inclusion on the list was La Petite Maison from Dubai which came 81st.
