Continuing its commitment to nurturing emerging fashion talent in the region, the Dubai Design & Fashion Council (DDFC) teamed up with FAD Institute of Luxury, Fashion & Style, Dubai to pick one designer to send to the United Kingdom, as part of London Fashion Week.

Following the open call this summer for UAE-based fashion designers to submit their portfolios, designer Amira Haroon has just been announced as the winner.

Haroon’s eponymous label was deemed the winner by a panel that included: Jazia Al Dhanhani, chief executive of DDFC; Sass Brown, founding dean of the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation; Martyn Roberts, managing & creative director of Fashion Scout London; and Shivang Dhruva, founder of FAD Dubai.

Saudi-born, UAE-based Haroon will now take part in Fashion Scout London, which is a hothouse for young labels during London Fashion Week. With the world's press in attendance, it provides a vital opportunity to be picked up by a much wider audience.

Roberts said: “Dubai is home to a unique pool of talent, and DDFC is playing a fundamental role in nurturing and supporting designers from the region.”
