Dubai-based dancer officially crowned with Guinness World Record

Dubai-based professional dancer Christopher Lawrence, aka CL has been officially crowned the Guinness World Record holder for Longest Videogame Marathon Playing a Motion-Sensing Dance Game.

It was announced today (18th) that 28-year Lawrence, from the Philippines successfully danced on Xbox 360’s Dance Central 2 for 16 hours, 21 minutes and 44 seconds on 15 December 2011, beating the previous American record of 15 hours, 17 minutes and 44 seconds on Dance Dance Revolution.

Lawrence, who teaches at Kadomz Dance Studio at Dubai Marina Mall, alongside Christian Ortega, who also took part in the attempt at Mall of the Emirates, said he feels “proud”.

“I hope that it will motivate everyone, and especially my students, to follow their dreams,” he said.

Guinness World Records created the new record category for the title due to the body movement possibilities offered by Kinect, say organisers.

“Set in our home, Dubai, this new record title is yet another testament to the extraordinary controller-free entertainment that Kinect for Xbox 360 provides. It continues to transform social gaming and player interaction...” said Aman Sangar, Interactive Entertainment Business Category Lead MEA, Microsoft.
