Saudi Arabia's Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed relations with Oman's foreign minister in a visit to the sultanate on Wednesday.

Prince Faisal, wearing a white face mask, was met on the tarmac by Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, who wore a clear face shield.

The pair discussed retaining unity and stability in the region, as well as making efforts to strengthen the bilateral relationship, the Oman News Agency reported.

They also spoke about the GCC summit in Al Ula in January, when the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt agreed to restore diplomatic, trade and travel ties with Qatar, which were suspended in 2017. Oman remained a neutral party throughout.

Mr Al Busaidi is new to his position after a Cabinet reshuffle in August. He has extensive experience working on the foreign portfolio and joined the diplomatic service in 1988.

He also served as the Foreign Ministry's secretary general before taking the role of foreign minister.

The visit comes a week after Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, visited Oman.
