DUBAI // The Instagram account of Sheikh Hamdan, Crown Prince of Dubai, appears to have been hacked on Wednesday afternoon.
A picture with the Turkish flag and “We Are Anonymous” on a black background with a Guy Fawkes mask typically used by the hacking collective Anonymous appeared on Sheikh Hamdan’s account.
Many users sent messages of support to Sheikh Hamdan or asked the apparent hacker to return his account, and more than 3,000 comments had appeared within an hour.
“Please, we want Sheikh [Hamdan’s] profile [back],” one person commented.
“This is bad, [Sheikh Hamdan] is a great leader and modest person, please give his account back to him, so disappointed to see that Mr Anonymous,” another comment read.
“Why [hack] this beautiful account?” read another.
Others encouraged users to report the incident. The post had been removed by about 5.30pm.
