A smartphone app designed to assist Muslims participating in the Haj pilgrimage has surpassed over half a million downloads across 155 countries.

Called Salam, the free mobile app is available in multiple languages and guides Haj and Umrah pilgrims through every step from packing and preparation, to tracking their travel companions and connecting with friends and family.

The app’s developer, Hajjnet, said the app is part of “social Du’a”, which allows Muslims to connect with each other while fulfilling their religious obligations.

The company said the app has been ranked among the top 10 apps in Apple’s app store Travel Category across 59 countries since its launch in 2014.
