The district cooling company Tabreed reported a 6 per cent rise in full-year profit as it added more capacity to chill buildings.
Revenue increased by the same measure, to Dh1.28 billion.
The utility, which is also known as National Central Cooling Company, added 74,034 refrigeration tonnes to its overall capacity over the year, it said in a stock exchange filing. This month it acquired a district cooling plant that serves ICT’s Nation Towers on the Corniche in Abu Dhabi.
New projects included Dubai Parks and Resorts in Dubai and Jabal Omar Development Project in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
“The development of new district cooling plants such as the one developed for Dubai Parks and Resorts, the largest integrated theme park destination in the region, and the acquisition of ICT’s district cooling plant, which provides cooling to the Nation Towers development, played a large role in our success and emphasises the growing importance district cooling provides to our customers in terms of energy savings and environmental benefits,” said Jasim Husain Thabet, Tabreed’s chief executive.
Tabreed owns and operates 71 plants across the GCC, including 63 in the UAE, three in Qatar, two in Saudi Arabia, two in Oman and one in Bahrain.
