Gulf Related, the developer of the mixed-use Al Maryah Central in Abu Dhabi, has its eyes on the big picture.

The 2.8 million square foot mixed-use development will get a 21-screen VOX Cinemas, following the signing of a deal today between Gulf Related and Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas.

It will join Al Maryah Central’s flagship tenants including department stores Bloomingdale’s and the first Macy’s department store outside the USA.

Movie-goers at the 91,000 square-feet VOX at Al Maryah Central will have seven options to watch movies, a statement said.

These include Imax with Laser with 12 channel immersive sound, 4DX, the exclusive dining experience Theatre by Rhodes, a collaboration with Michelin Star chef Gary Rhodes, as well as a new VOX Kids concept and VIP Cinema experience.

Vox Cinemas operates 26 cinema complexes totalling 223 screens across the region, including 161 screens in the UAE, 15 screens in Lebanon and 47 screens in Oman.

The retail component of Al Maryah Central is set to open in 2018.
