1. THE BRIEF: To shoot the cover and inside fashion shoot for this month’s Luxury magazine.
2. THE INSPIRATION: Our main inspiration came from one of our favourite Vogue Paris shoots Down Town Girl with the beautiful Sasha Pivovarova channeling vintage looks for the June-July issue. Shot by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin's and styled by Joe McKenna we wanted to capture the spirit of Sasha Pivovarova as she wandered around the East Village in New York.
3. THE LOCATION: We shot at Brasserie Angélique in Etihad Towers, a Parisian inspired café with oppulent chandeliers and chequerboard tiles making it the perfect backdrop for our story.
4. WARDROBE: We were after a sort of out-of-work Edie Sedgwick Downtown New York look- one of the pioneers of the messy chic look of the 1980s. We knew that we needed to layer and accessorise heavily so we made sure we had a wide selection from brands such as Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo and Yohji Yamamoto.
5. HAIR: With the theme of the shoot being street culture we decided to reference early Madonna- taking the headscarf as a starting point. After curling the hair into soft waves it was pinned to the top of the head loosely with a 1980s inspired wave at the front.
6. MAKE UP: In keeping with the theme we decided to give Milena a strong red lip using Mac's Ruby Woo that leaves a matte finish. We finished it off with Mac lip liner in Cherry giving a clean defined lip and used Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate to contour the cheekbones. Our feature point was the strong brow- we filled in the brows with Mac eyebrow pencil in Lingering.
