Santana reunites with bandmate, now homeless
A TV news reporter has reunited Carlos Santana with a former bandmate he hadn't seen in decades and who now lives on the streets of Oakland. The reporter Stanley Roberts ran into the Santana Blues Band's percussionist Marcus "The Magnificent" Malone while working on a story about illegal dumping last week. On Friday, he took Santana for a surprise visit to the camper where Malone has been staying. "You don't know how afraid I am to let you see me," Malone told Santana. "We cherish you," Santana replied. "It's an honour to be in your presence." Santana, who performs at the Dubai Jazz Festival on February 20, promised to bring Malone a set of conga drums and to help him get on his feet. – AP
