Lil Wayne says he's epileptic

Lil Wayne says he's an epileptic and has had seizures for years. The 30-year-old rapper said epilepsy caused his most recent health scare earlier this month when he was rushed to a hospital. Wayne said he had three back-to-back seizures. "I've had a bunch of seizures, you all just never hear about them," he said, adding that they were a result of "just plain stress, no rest, overworking myself". The Grammy winner released his 10th album, I Am Not a Human Being II, this week. – AP

It’s a girl for Bell and Shepard

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are new parents to a baby girl. The engaged actors took to Twitter on Thursday to announce the arrival of their daughter, Lincoln. Bell, 32, tweeted that her "new roommate poops her pants and doesn't pay rent". Shepard, 38, posted that his new daughter "has mom's beauty". The couple have been engaged since 2009. – AP

Jeremy Renner also a dad

Another new Hollywood parent is Jeremy Renner. The actor and his girlfriend Sonni Pacheco confirmed on Friday that they are the parents of Ava Berlin Renner. A statement from the couple said they "are beyond thrilled". – AP

Walters to retire next year

Barbara Walters plans to retire next year, ending a career that began more than a half century ago and made her a trailblazer in television. Someone who works closely with Walters, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the plan is for her to retire in May 2014. Walters, 83, was hospitalised earlier this year after falling and cutting her head while leaving a party in Washington. Her main work is at The View, the daytime hit she created in 1997. – AP

Martin Scorsese adapts Gangs of
New York for television

Martin Scorsese is developing a television series based on his 2002 film Gangs of New York. The director is partnering with Miramax, which released the film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day-Lewis. The series will expand on the brutal, 19th-century New York gang world of the film. In a statement, Scorsese says the series "allows us the time and creative freedom to bring this colourful world to life". – AP

Demi Lovato returning to X Factor

The Fox network says Demi Lovato is returning as a judge of The X Factor US. The singer-songwriter will be back alongside the reality show's creator Simon Cowell for its third season this autumn. Although calling Lovato "really, really annoying", Cowell said he enjoys working with her. The announcement comes as the panel is being revamped. Britney Spears and the record producer LA Reid departed after season two. – AP
