Hollywood A-lister Robert De Niro will be hanging out in the UAE next week, but he’s not coming to film a movie, he’ll be here to press the flesh at a business conference.
De Niro, who has starred in more than 100 films including The Godfather, Taxi Driver and The Intern, will speak at a Dubai event which is designed to boost tourism in Antigua and Barbuda.
The 73-year-old actor and producer is passionate about the Caribbean tourism industry, and has invested US$250 million into a resort project in Barbuda. He is partnering with Australian businessman James Packer.
The two-time Academy Award winner will be part of a delegation. He is scheduled to speak on October 9 at the invitation-only event at the Palazzo Versace Hotel.
De Niro is an old hand when it comes to business, his other notable capital ventures have included co-founding the film studio TriBeCa Productions, the Tribeca Film Festival and the restaurants Nobu and TriBeCa Grill.
