Former England striker Gary Lineker has announced he is welcoming a refugee to live in his £4 million (Dh19.4m) mansion in Surrey, England.

The Match of the Day presenter made the arrangement through the charity Refugees at Home, and said he had been thinking about doing it for a while.

"My kids are all grown up so I've got plenty of room so if I can help on a temporary basis then I'm more than happy to do so. Why not?" Lineker told the Daily Mirror:

The former Everton and Tottenham Hotspur striker told the newspaper he did not know who his new guest would be or where they are from.
