US TV chat-show host Ellen DeGeneres teams up with Emirates and sends her entire audience to Dubai has for the second time treated a lucky member of her audience to a holiday in the UAE – but this time she went one better and also gave away trips to everyone who was watching the taping of her show.
In April last year, she gave away a trip to Abu Dhabi as part of a tie-in to the release of Furious 7, which was partly filmed in the capital. On that occasion contestants had to race an oversized tricycle across the stage.
On her show on May 23, she had Emirates flights to Dubai up for grabs, complete with a hotel stay, US$2,000 of spending money and a trip to Cape Town in South Africa. To win, contestants only had to answer simple questions such as “How many days are there in a week?” and “What show are we shooting?”
The winner was Meredith Kocan from Montgomery, Alabama. But everyone else in the audience had reason to celebrate when she was then asked to choose a number between one and five – and selected the one number that awarded every member of the audience a free trip to Dubai.
DeGeneres is no stranger to the UAE – she was spotted here in May having dinner with actress Portia di Rossi at The Act on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road.
