If your current collection of cookware is looking a little worse for wear, and your kitchen cupboards are crying out for an overhaul, here are three new-to-market options to consider.
Ikea
Ikea has launched a new line for “cooking and preparing”, which includes additions to its Vardagen collection. The popular line of everyday cook- and tableware, which is designed in traditional style, includes everything from bakeware and pots, to dinnerware and glassware, made from sturdy, reliable materials such as metal, stoneware and clear glass. Think traditional shapes and intricate detailing, but built to last. Vardagen pots have a two-layer stainless-steel base, with a layer of aluminium in between, to prevent overheating, while copper rivets on the handles introduce a nice rustic touch. The collection was designed by Henrik Preutz, Wiebke Braasch, Ola Wihlborg and Nike Karlsson, who say of their creations: “Our idea was to design a timeless series that gets the job done year after year, in every kind of home.”
Fiskars
New to the UAE are products by the Finnish brand Fiskars, which established shop-in-shop concepts in Jashanmal stores across the country at the end of March. Fiskars introduced its lifestyle brand, Iittala, which specialises in products for the tabletop, to the UAE last year, but has now extended its offerings to include its high-quality knives, pans and utensils. “They are easy to use, easy to clean and easy to store, which make them easy to love,” is the brand’s promise.
The company can trace its roots back to 1649, when it started life as a forging operation in the tiny Finnish village of Fiskars. Today, its products are available in more than 100 countries across the globe. They’re a great option for those looking to invest in long-lasting, high-quality items for the kitchen.
Arshia
The kitchen-and-homeware brand Arshia claims to offer appliances that “make every home smarter”. It’s a bold claim, but the brand does offer an extensive collection of cool cookware, cutlery and home appliances. Stocked at Dari Home in Dubai’s Al Wasl Square, highlights from Arshia’s latest collection include a four-piece set of cookware in a snazzy shade of pink (which is also, incidentally, non-stick and scratch-proof); and a two-in-one kettle that can brew tea or coffee.
