Coldplay dedicates song to Mick Jagger at NYC concert

Coldplay dedicated their slow tempo tune Fix You to Mick Jagger at a concert on Monday in New York City. Chris Martin told the crowd before singing the encouraging song about recovering: "It's for Mick Jagger." Jagger's longtime girlfriend, the fashion designer L'Wren Scott, committed suicide in March. A memorial was held in New York last week. Martin doesn't quite have Jagger's moves, but the singer danced wildly onstage with his arms swinging as he sang tunes from the band's catalogue, including songs from their new album Ghost Stories, out on May 19. – AP

Prince blasts music bosses ‘always at the beach’

The American pop star Prince fuelled his long-running feud with music industry bosses on Monday. Prince, who only weeks ago agreed on a new deal with Warner Bros and announced the release of a new record, said he has had enough of record-label executives living the good life on the back of musicians. "Every time I talk to the heads of large companies, they're always at the beach," the 55-year-old star told Essence magazine. "We're working to send their kids to college. And to the beach. First look at Amitabh and Jaya’s Leader

The first look of the film Leader, starring Bollywood's power couple Amitabh Bachchan and his wife Jaya Bachchan, was unveiled in Mumbai earlier this week. Leader tells the story of "an honest man who becomes a leader as he fights against evil forces in society". The drama, which also features Gulshan Grover, Dinesh Lal and Pakhi Hegde, is written and directed by Abhishek Chadha and is produced by Deepak Sawant, who has been Amitabh's personal make-up artist for more than two decades. – The National staff

Jack is back: 24 opens new season

The hit American action show 24 returned to television screens yesterday, four years after its last season, with Kiefer Sutherland returning as the fugitive counter-terrorism agent Jack Bauer. The spy thriller moves to London for its first run since the end of season eight in May 2010. The new series, subtitled Live Another Day, runs for 12 episodes, rather than 24, as was the case before. – AFP
