Even though it’s been almost two years since Barack Obama was last in office at the White House, the former US president continued his annual tradition of sharing his favourite books, movies and songs of the year.
"As 2018 draws to a close, I’m continuing a favorite tradition of mine and sharing my year-end lists. It gives me a moment to pause and reflect on the year through the books, movies, and music that I found most thought-provoking, inspiring, or just plain loved," Obama wrote in a Facebook post published Friday.
Not surprisingly, his favourite book of the year was his wife's best-selling memoir Becoming which was released last month. Other titles on the list included Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, The Return by Pulitzer Prize winning author Hisham Matar and Feel Free, a collection of essays from Zadie Smith.
His favourite movies included the Marvel smash hit Black Panther and critically-acclaimed Netflix film Roma while Apes**t by The Carters, Wow Freestyle by Jay Rock (featuring Kendrick Lamar) and Make Me Feel by Janelle Monae were on his list of his favourite songs from the year.
