One of the most respected DJs on the planet will help launch an exclusive new Dubai nightspot.

Dixon topped Resident Advisor's end-of-year Top DJs list — the more-respected elder brother of DJ Mag's list – in 2013 and 2014.

Now he’s visiting the UAE on Thursday, December 18, to play at the grand opening of Provocateur Dubai, a lounge-club hosted at the brand new Four Seasons Resort Dubai in Jumeirah.

A spin off from the New York-based venue of the same time, Provocateur’s team say that this is “first American nightlife brand to enter the UAE market”.

It seems they might be forgetting The Act, Simon Hammerstein’s notorious theatre-themed nightspot based on the (now-closed) Vegas original.

However, it is true that New York is yet to be represented in the emirates nightlife scene, despite already hosting high-profile spin-offs from Ibiza (Pacha, Blue Marlin), Saint Tropez (Villa Romana), Paris (VIP Room), Beirut (Crystal, White, MusicHall) and London (Mahiki, Movida, Chinawhite, Cirque Le Soir).

While the NYC venue is best known as an intimate lounge in The Meatpacking District, the UAE incarnation is set to ramp up the volume, with the venue’s team boasting the somewhat dubious claim that “Provocateur Dubai is set to be the first electronic music venue in the city”.

An extravagant boast perhaps, although the brand’s home base has reportedly attracted club sets from massive festival DJs including Calvin Harris, Tiësto, Axwell and Deadmau5.

Fresh details about the club include news that the 7,000sq ft clubbing space will boast the “latest vertical speaker design”, an LED digital strip that is “almost” a kilometre long (not sure how that works) encircling the room, as well as “signature Provocateur elements including European dollhouse imagery” and a “design [that] in totality radiates glamour and sophistication”.

“Dubai is an international hub for Provocateur’s world travel clientele and the growth of the industry here is phenomenal,” says co-owner Brian Gefter. “Our goal is simply to stay true to the Provocateur brand’s ethos and set the standard for a unique luxury experience in the country.”

Provocateur Dubai will be open on Thursdays and Fridays from 10pm to 3am. Email reservations@provocateurdubai.com or call 055 211 8222 or 04 343 8411.
