Monsta X pushes back online concert due to member Shownu’s surgery
The group’s concert comes with bonus features and merchandise
K-pop fans will have to wait a little longer for Monsta X’s online concert.
The popular group postponed its Live from Seoul with Luv gig, which was to be live streamed on Sunday, July 26, on the platform LiveXLive, due to member Shownu needing time to recover from eye surgery.
The new concert date is Sunday, August 9, with the live stream beginning from 6am UAE time. Tickets can be purchased from the LiveXLive website.
The new date was announced by the group's record label Starship Entertainment. "We made an inevitable decision to reschedule the Monsta X Live from Seoul with Luv gig, as we regard our artists' health condition as the highest priority," read the statement. "Shownu had surgery and is recovering through rest."
A show with bonus features
The upcoming concert is also generating significant industry interest due to the innovative way it’s being packaged and sold.
More than just the live performance, Monsta X has added plenty of features to enhance the concert experience for their hardcore fans.
With tickets ranging from $19.99 (Dh73) to $149.99, there are five categories of virtual tickets on offer.
It begins with the basic package that includes the live stream and two months worth of replays. The next level has the added bonus of accessing multi-camera footage of each member.
The next two categories includes the concert and a variety of merchandise, including a Monsta X face mask. Finally, the sold-out VIP package gives each ticket holder a 20 second virtual meet and greet with a Monsta X member of their choice.
Despite the early starting time, expect a sizable number of fans tuning in from region. Monsta X has toured the GCC on various occasions, including a sold out show in Abu Dhabi's du Arena as part of Kcon 2016, in addition to performing in front of 40,000 people at the MDL Beast festival in 2019, held in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh.
Monsta X were due to return to the UAE in March to take part in Music Bank at Dubai's Coca-Cola Arena. The show was postponed, however, due to the coronavirus outbreak. There is no word as of yet of when the rescheduled show will take place.
