Ever thought your favourite album fell short of being a total masterpiece because of its design?

Well, now you have a chance to rewrite history by taking a stab at redesigning a series of classic album covers.

The Colouring Sessions is an online colouring book, launched by Sony Music UK, which aims to help music lovers get creative. Ten album covers are available to be reimagined, including releases from crooner Elvis Presley and legend Jimmy Hendrix to rockers Foo Fighters and British girl band, Little Mix.

You can either drastically change or faithfully recreate the album cover of your choice using an online palette of colours. You can also download the template, print it, and colour it in with crayons, pencils or paints. To inspire you further, each album cover comes with a Spotify playlist dedicated to that artist.

Scroll through the gallery above to see six album covers you can colour in thanks to the idea.

You can also upload your creations to the gallery section of the website, as well as peruse others' artistic efforts.

While it offers a chance to test your design skills, the initiative is viewed as a form of art therapy to help soothe us in these difficult times.

“We’re lucky to have a selection of some of the most beautiful, striking and creative album artwork of all time at our fingertips,” says Sony Music UK’s spokesperson Heidi Boston-Thompson.

“We wanted to give our artists’ audiences the chance to take a moment out, explore their own creativity, drive focus and ultimately aid relaxation. By pairing music with the simple exercise of colouring in, we hope to create a mindful environment and a sense of calm for the audience.”
