Eminem returns to Abu Dhabi with massive show
The rapper will bring his stadium conquering world tour in October
The year’s biggest hip-hop tour is coming to Abu Dhabi.
Superstar rapper Eminem will make a long-awaited return to the capital with a concert at Yas Island’s Du Arena on Friday, October 25.
His UAE stop, which comes seven years after his last performance at the same venue, is part of his all-conquering Kamikaze world tour, which already saw him sell out stadiums across Europe and Australia. Tickets go on sale from noon today from Ticketmaster.
The latest global trek is born out of the releases of his 2017 album Revival and its 2018 follow up Kamikaze. The former project saw Eminem move away from a straight hip-hop sound to release his most pop-friendly project yet.
While The National’s review of Revival was mixed, we did state that some of the tracks, such as the Alicia Keys collaborations, Like Home, "should sound glorious on his upcoming stadium tour".
And judging by the footage available online, Eminem’s tour has been a roaring success. With over two decades of hits, including Lose Yourself, Without Me and Not Afraid, Eminem should arrive in Abu Dhabi with a show to remember.
Hip-hop fans know that Eminem rolls with a solid crew. Supporting the star on stage is his hype-man Denaun Porter, who along with Eminem were members of the now defunct hip-hop collective D12.
Another artist that should join him on stage is Royce Da 5'9. Like Eminem, he is a fellow Detroit native and is revered as one of the most technically gifted rappers in the game. Judging by the previous shows on this tour, we can expect both Eminem and Royce to team up to perform tracks from their side-group Bad Meets Evil, including the hit Fast Lane.
Backing Eminem on the DJ decks is The Alchemist, who as well as touring with for nearly 15 years, has produced tracks for the likes of Nas, Snoop Dogg and Mobb Deep. Look out for possible club shows by both The Alchemist and Royce Da 5'9 closer to the concert dates.
Eminem performs at Du Arena on October 25. Doors open at 6.30pm. Tickets begin at Dh395 from www.ticketmaster.ae
