In this exclusive first look video clip, legendary writer and director Luc Besson (The Fifth Element, Leon) reveals the magic behind his brand new feature film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, in a featurette entitled See You in Space.
Taking audiences through the history and creation of the sci-fi blockbuster that has been a passion project for the director for decades. Besson reveals some of the visual treats that await in the spectacular adventure that, with a production budget of over $200m, promises to push the boundaries of visual and special effects in film.
The movie stars Dane Dehaan (The Amazing Spiderman 2) and Cara Delevigne (Suicide Squad) as special agents Valerian and Laureline, and is based on Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres’ French sci-fi comic book series which ran from 1967 to 2010
The movie sees the pair embark on a mission to the city of Alpha—an ever-expanding metropolis where species from all over the universe have converged over centuries to share knowledge, intelligence and cultures with each other. There is a mystery at the center of Alpha, a dark force which threatens the peaceful existence of the City of a Thousand Planets, and Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the marauding menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets releases UAE-wide on July 20.
