Indian actress Priyanka Chopra Jones is celebrating 20 years in the entertainment industry in 2020, by giving her fans a blast from the past.
The actress took to social media to announce that she was marking the occasion by sharing some of her most monumental moments over the last 20 years.
The Quantico star then shared a video on Instagram that goes right back to the beginning, with her win at the Femina Miss India beauty pageant in 2000. "If you've never seen these before, you are in for quite a treat," reads the caption of the Instagram post going out to her 55.3 million followers.
The candid video, almost three minutes long, shows her watching footage of the event and commenting on it. “What am I wearing, first of all?” she jokes.
She then goes on to give audiences a little behind-the-scenes information on the pageant, telling them that contestants’ hair was pulled up so that the crown could fit, and commenting on her answer at the common question round.
She also watches the moment she is announced the winner, adding that it was “crazy”. “I never ever expected to win. I wasn’t supposed to. I had a train booked and I was supposed to go back and give my board exams and I had a crown on my head!”
“It’s been 20 years and I haven’t looked back…until now," she says.
Chopra initially aspired to become an aeronautical engineer before winning the Femina Miss India World title in 2000. She went on to win the Miss World pageant, following which she got offers in the film industry and her Bollywood career took off. She has since crossed over into Hollywood, with lead roles in shows like Quantico and Baywatch.
Most recently, she has been cast alongside Keanu Reeves in the upcoming Matrix 4, scheduled for release in 2022.
Clearly, 20 years in the entertainment industry have left her quite nostalgic. “Well, this is where everything started,” she says in the video.
