Britain's Prince Charles visited Kuwait on Sunday to extend condolences to the country's leaders after the death of its emir, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah.

US Secretary of Defence, Mark Esper, and a delegation of Saudi leaders also visited the country to express their regret.

Sheikh Sabah died on Tuesday aged 91, and the delegations were greeted by Kuwait’s new emir, his brother Sheikh Nawaf.

Sheikh Nawaf expressed concern over the health of Donald Trump to Mr Esper after the US president's Covid-19 diagnosis.

He said he was glad Mr Trump was “recovering and well” after being flown to hospital on Friday.

The Saudi officials were hosted at the Emiri Terminal and included: Prince Fahad bin Sultan, Governor of Tabuk Region; Prince Khaled bin Bandar, Adviser to King Salman; Prince Meshaal bin Majed, Governor of Jeddah; Prince Turki bin Talal, Governor of Aseer; and Prince Faisal bin Salman, Governor of Madinah.

They also offered their condolences to Kuwaiti dignitaries including the Prime Minister, Sheikh Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah, and the National Assembly Speaker, Marzouq Al Ghanim.
