DUBAI // Self-driving police vehicles will soon be monitoring the city’s streets in a bid to increase security.
Dubai Police will develop the self-driving vehicle with a company based in Singapore.
“Self-driving patrols will be equipped with cameras that will be connected to Dubai Police Head Quarters to show live footage of what’s going on in the city’s streets,” said First lieutenant Salim Al Marri, a police official at the department of smart services.
First lieutenant Al Marri said the patrols will be equipped with sensors to identify suspects, places or damaged vehicles.
“Also, the car will be equipped with a drone and fingerprint scanners to better prepare Dubai Police for any consequence,” he said.
The vehicle will be on display at the next Gitex.
