SHARJAH // Traffic Police have said that they have experienced a lower number of registered injuries and accidents during this week’s rainstorm than in previous years.

According to brigadier Abdulah Aldukhan the accidents reported were minor to medium. He said that motorists did experience traffic jams on the streets during the storm but he thanked drivers for abiding by the traffic laws and driving carefully during the difficult weather.

“Statistics showed that motorists in the emirate are more aware of the dangers during rainstorm, they drove responsibly and safely,” said the brigadier.

Traffic police patrols said there were a limited number of offences on the streets during the storm and they also noticed motorists assisting other car drivers who had broken down.

Last year, four people, three of them Emiratis, died when a driver lost control of the vehicle on Al Dhaid road and hit a lamp post during severe rain in February.
