FUJAIRAH // Mohammed bin Matar Road in Fujairah will undergo repairs as part of the emirate’s 2040 master plan.

“The road will be paved according to international standards as it considered an important road that serve a number of areas and many residents use it to avoid Hamad bin Abdullah Road traffic,” said Salem Al Mukasah, manager of Fujairah Public Works.

“The road will be ready in a month from now, and we will start working on other roads like the airport road and Al Muntazah Road.”

Motorists expressed relief at the news, saying the road had many cracks because of wear and tear from lorries.

“Trucks used to pass by this road before the opening of the ring road and it caused cracks in the pavement, which affected our cars and tyres,” said Sultan Al Harithi, 28, an Emirati.

“I use the road daily to go to work and I’m really happy to see the construction works have started.”

Ahlam Al Mazroui, 31, an Emirati mother of four, said, “I take my kids to school using Mohammed bin Matar road as we live in Al Ittihad area. The road needed to be improved and I’m glad that they had finally started with the upgrade.”
