RAS AL KHAIMAH // Three hikers have been rescued by a RAK Police Air Wing team after they became lost in the Al Shaam mountains.

A helicopter, led by captain pilot Abdullah Al Shehhi, was dispatched to the mountains where two of the European tourists were found.

Teams from the traffic and patrols department rescued the third who had begun his descent from the mountain, police said.

They were given first aid and water before being transferred to a hospital.

Lieutenant Colonel Pilot Saeed Al Yamahi, head of the Air Wing at RAK Police, urged hikers to be careful while climbing mountains and to stay on tracks while in wild areas and on mountain peaks.
