DUBAI // A man has said that the devil made him sexually assault a four-year-old girl who was buying sweets at his shop.
On November 26 last year, the child visited the shop near her home in Hatta and was standing next to the fridge when the Indian defendant, 46, walked up to her and touched her inappropriately.
She ran home and told her mother who reported the incident to police. The man was arrested later the same day.
A trauma assessment report said the girl had been subjected to sexual assault.
During investigations, the defendant told police and prosecutors that he had been lured by the devil.
He was not in Dubai Criminal Court to enter a plea because a translator was not available.
The next hearing has been scheduled for January 29.
