DUBAI // A security guard at a residential building has been accused of molesting an eight-year-old girl in his room.
Dubai Criminal Court heard that on July 27, Syrian child A K, was riding her bike in front of a building in the Al Muraqqabat area, where she lives with her family.
She told prosecutors that she was approached by the defendant, S M, 37, an Indian, who asked her to accompany him to his room, where he groped her.
After he committed the act, he gave the girl two dirhams and 25 fils, the court heard.
Later that day, A K’s father was returning form work when he saw his daughter heading to their apartment and noticed something was not right.
“She seemed not to be herself, so when we got to the flat I noticed she was holding something in the palm of her hand,” said M K, 37.
“I asked her about it, then she told me the security guard at our building had given it to her.”
When M K asked why the guard had given her the coins, she told him what had happened.
“I called police who came right away and arrested him,” said M K.
S M denied the charges of molestation in court on Tuesday.
He awaits a verdict on October 20.
